A base sherd of a ceramic vessel of probable Roman date, AD 43 - 410. The fabric is hard, irregular and is mid grey in colour. It has frequent angular white and light grey inclusions (quartz?) and some mica; it is probably a local greyware. The base would have had a diameter of 120mm. The wall meets the base at an angle of about 60 degrees. The wall has a thickness of 7.5mm.
