A copper alloy Roman brooch of Thealby mine type dating from AD 100 - 200. It has an integral circular head loop, a semi tubular head holding a copper alloy axis bar and copper alloy hinged pin. The pin has only its top surviving. The ings are half round and the front is decorated with two vertical rows of beading on each wing, with a concave area between. The bow is decorated with a central concave hollow flanked by a ridge and incised line on each side. It tapers towards the foot which is missing. Part of the catchplate survives. The brooch has a smooth dark brown patina, dark green where the surface is damaged.
