An incomplete copper alloy possible buckle plate of Roman date. The buckle plate is of a military type which would have been sub-rectangular in plan when complete. The plate features an openwork design consisting of two circular apertures above two rectangular apertures. Crude incised lines are present on the upper surface of the plate surrounding each of the apertures. The reverse is flat and undecorated.

The metal has a mid greyish-green patina and is worn. The plate is 26.8mm long, 15.1mm wide, 1.5mm thick and weighs 1.4g.

The buckle plate is similar to examples in Appels and Laycock p.229-231.
