A complete but damaged Medieval silver penny of Henry VI (1422-1461), minted at York. Rosette-Mascle issue, 1427-1430 (North 1991: 76, ref: 1451iii) or Pinecone-Mascle issue, 1430-1434 (North 1991: 77, ref: 1466i).


Obverse: [ ]EX(mascle)A[ ]; Crowned bust facing with a bifoliate crown (mullet to right of crown, worn mark to left of crown)


Reverse: CI[ ]/[ ]/EBO/[ ]I; Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant, quatrefoil at centre of cross


Diameter: 17.5mm. Weight: 0.83g. DA=12:9.

The coin has been double-struck on the obverse and is possibly clipped.
