Fragment from a sheet metal plate - most probably a buckle plate of later medieval date (1200-1500 AD). The plate is irregular in plan and profile (originally being flat - now curled and distorted). No original edges survive, although one potential rivet hole is present along one edge. The upper surface is decorated with two parallel incised lines that probably form a border to the entire plate. The reverse surface is plain and undecorated. The artefact is a mid green colour with a well formed surface patina.
The artefact measures 26.0mm length, is 25.8mm wide and 1.0mm thick; it weighs 1.59 grams
