An incomplete copper alloy pot leg of medieval to post-medieval date. The object has a large rectangular section at the base, ovate in cross-section and is L-shaped in profile. The pot leg tapers outward from the upper portion to the pad-like foot. The foot and leg is decorated with a thick, central vertical ridge. The reverse is undecorated. The surface is worn with a worn break across the top.
It has a light brownish green patina. It measures 37.57mm in length, 36.13mm in width and is 11.73mm thick and weighs 98g.
Copper alloy vessels were commonly used for downhearth cooking from AD1100 to the late 1700s where they were gradually phased out in favour of cast-iron pots and saucepans designed for kitchen ranges. Therefore it is difficult to closely date this object without any further archeological context.
