A Medieval groat of Edward III (1327-1377 AD), minted at York, Fourth Coinage, Pre-Treaty Period, Series D, dating to 1352-1353 (closed E, normal R, cross 1 on obverse - reverse uncertain).

Obverse: Crowned bust facing within tressure of arches; trefoils in corners and on breast.
Obverse legend: + EDWARD.D.G REX.ANGL.[-]FRANC.D.hYB (with annulet stops)
Reverse: Long cross pattee with three pellets in each quadrant.
Reverse legend: (inner circle) CIVI TAS EBO RACI; (outer circle) POS[VI] DEVM.A DIVTOR EM.MEV (with annulet stops)
