Broken cast copper alloy double-loop oval buckle frame in two parts with a slightly concave base and a convex profile. One of the loops of the frame has been sheared off at the edge of the mouldings on either side of the strap bar. The strap bar is narrowed and triangular in section and the pin is missing. There is a moulded sexfoil knop, which resembles an acanthus leaf, on the outer edge of each of the rounded loops. The sides of the frame are concave and also have a moulded sexfoil knop at either end of the strap bar. Together the frame is 46 mm in length and 30 mm in width and 2 mm in thickness. The strap bar is 13 mm in length and 2.3 mm in thickness. The frame weighs 6.92g.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on p.65, No.403, which is dated from c.1550-1650.
