Cast copper alloy spur rowel in the form of a five-armed star with five points that are lozenge-shaped in section. Each arm has about eighteen parallel transverse grooves from the central perforation to the point. In between each arm is another shorter point, that measures about 10 mm, and two of the five have been bent back through use.
Read (2001) illustrates a similar spur rowel with long arms and transverse grooves on page 66, Fig.42, No.505, and another spur rowel with mouldings on either side of the arms in No.516, which are dated from the 17th century.
Bailey (2002) illustrates a spur rowel with shorter arms but similar alternating moulded points on page 36, Fig.17, which is dated from the 17th century.
