A very worn and corroded early type keyhole horseshoe fragment consisting of the right branch only. Two square nail holes are evident, with one protruding square-headed nail in situ. There is no evidence of a fullered groove or calkin. The heel is not thickened and it is probable that corrosion may have removed these features. The shoe is flat in section and the size suggests a saddle shoe or light draught shoe of circa 1450-1550 . Length 114.03 mm. Width 35.78 mm. Thickness 5.47 mm. Weight 69 grams.
