Incomplete front part of a medieval gilt copper alloy buckle plate with a pin slot and frame recesses, in battered condition, broken across the fold and missing the inside edge and all rivet holes. On the front face part of a wyvern or bird is depicted in relief, perhaps once reserved on an enamelled ground. Only a few specks of gilding remain. Close to an example from Rocklands, Norfolk (HER 39288, NMS-A00F90). Width 21mm. Extant length 23.5mm. 13th century.
