A complete knapped lithic implement of probable Mesolithic date, circa 7000 - 4000 BC. The implement is a microlith which is sub-triangula rin plan and rectangular in section. The bulb of percussion and striking platform no longer remain and the ventral surface is smooth with visible ripples of percussion. The dorsal surface contains two negative scars with corresponding arises and the left hand edge contain semi-abrupt retouch.
The flint is a light greyish-white colour. The implement is 11.8mm long, 7.8mm wide, 1.8mm thick and weighs 0.2g.
Microliths are common throughout the Mesolithic period and are commonly interpreted as tips and barbs of arrows. They occur in many shapes and sizes which can help to allow relative dating as the sizes tend to decrease through the period.
