A complete cast copper alloy Post Medieval animal rumbler bell, also known as a 'crotal' bell. The bell is divided into two hemispheres by a prominent ridge which runs around the circumference of the bell. A suspension loop extends up from the top of the upper hemisphere. The loop is rectangular in shape with a sub oval piercing. The upper hemisphere and lower hemisphere have been decorated with the characteristic incised 'sun burst' design; there are no makers marks. There are two large sound holes on the upper half placed perpendicular to the sound slot on the lower half. The remains of the iron pea survive inside the bell. The bell measures 46.3 mm long, 37.7mm diameter, and weighs 55.7 grams.
Bells of this type and decoration typically date to the 17th-early 19th century.
