A corroded and slightly abraded copper-alloy post-medieval dress fastener in the form of a scallop. This is the eye section of such fasteners, with its rectangular loop intact. The plate is shallowly convex with incised radiating grooves. The reverse is plain and recessed. At the top of the shell is a circular attachment loop. A further pair are located one either side at the base, one of these had abraded through. A parallel can be found illustrated in Read (2008, 174; ref. 659), slightly more elongated; for a hook-piece of similar proportions see ibid. (2008, 174; ref. 657), there classified as his Early post-medieval Class A, Type 7. This piece has corroded to a red/brown colour. The loop has been bent upwards slightly.
