An incomplete cast copper alloy mount or strap fitting, of Post Medieval dating (15th to 17th Centuries AD).
The mount is sub square in plan, and rectangular in profile. The mount has rounded corners, with a triangular projection placed centrally along each side. Both the front and the back are plain and undecorated. The remains of two integrally cast rectangular shank attachment spikes are present on the reverse.
The mount measures 15.0 mm in length, 15.0 mm wide and 1.4 mm thick (not including rivets), 4.6 mm thick (including rivets. It weighs 1.3 g.
The mount is a mid brown colour, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of the majority of the surface detail.
A similar mount has been recorded as LVPL-2E1234 and has been provisionally dated, due to the double integral attachments lugs as to the Post Medieval period (AD 1400 to AD 1600)
