A Post Medieval cast lead biface token c. 1500 to 1800.
The token carries a design consisting of a standing person with their arms on their hips and the reverse has four concentric rings overlaid with a petalled flower - Powell Type 32 - 1/31. The surface is a matte mottled light cream/grey colour. The token measures 19.43mm diameter, 2.95mm thick and weighs 5.8g.
Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as use as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. Those carrying initials are generally deemed to be Post Medieval in date (1500-1850 AD), those which seem to mimic Medieval penny designs are deemed to be Medieval, the remainder which carry stylised designs remain difficult to date but the majority are probably Post Medieval in date c.1500-1800.
This token has been dated broadly as probably Post Medieval c.1500-1800.
