An incomplete cast, unidentified object of Iron Age to Roman date, which appears to be the terminal of a larger object.
When viewed with the complete end uppermost this terminal consists of a rectangular shaft with D-shaped section which has a horizontal lower edge which then curves upwards and inwards to rejoin the top of the horizontal part hence forming two opposing ovals with open centres. The tips of these are trapezoidal in shape before rejoining the upper edge of the horizontal part. The front face of the trapezoidal tips of the ovals have circular indentations, perhaps to have held a setting of some kind originally.
The underside of the horizontal parthas a worn rectangular recess 14.82mm in length, 9.38mm in width with traces of iron corrosion within and around it. There are extensive areas of corrosion which have destroyed over half of the original surface of this object.
This object measures 42.65mm in length, 27.01mm in width, 9.48mm in thickness, 26.35g in weight.
