Description: A Post-Medieval gold posy ring. The outside of the hoop is plain whereas the inside of the hoop bears the inscription 'Happy in thee, hath God made me' in lower-case. The inside of the hoop also bears a maker's mark, possibly a 'TH'. The hoop is D-shaped in section.
Dimensions:
Thickness: 1.2 mm
Weight: 2.9 g
Diameter: 21.2 mm
Discussion: This finger-ring is very similar to one in the British Museum's collection (AF.1265) which bears the same inscription and also has a plain outer hoop and an indecipherable maker's mark.
Conclusion: In the absence of a legible and identifiable maker's mark there is insufficient evidence to date this finger-ring to pre-1714. Therefore this finger-ring does not qualify as Treasure as defined by the Treasure Act 1996.
