An incomplete copper alloy dress hook of post-medieval date. The dress hook is of Reads Class E, Type 5 being trefoil in plan. The main plate is an open work trefoil design with a D-shaped section and an integral D-shaped sectioned hook extending from the lower curved edge of the bottom loop of the knot. Two small circular details, possibly representing roses, mark the join between the main plate and the attachment loop. A small portion of the hook has been lost due to a break from wear or from post-depositional processes. The reverse of the object is flat and undecorated.
The metal is a light brownish green colour. The object is 33.90mm long, 18.68mm wide, 1.84mm thick and weighs 2.47g.
A similar example is illustrated in Read, p.110, no. 437 and is dated to the early post-medieval period.
