Fragment of a post-medieval copper alloy strap clasp of Read's (2008) early post-medieval Type 1, only the toggle end of the male half extant with a bifurcated knop on one side. The object, too flimsy to be part of a sword belt fitting, would have suported a chatelaine. A rather large example, being 21mm wide at the raised toggle bar. A length of 24.5mm remains.Thickness at the bar 5.3mm. c.1540 - c.1700.
