Neolithic or Bronze Age flint tool manufactured from a flake, hemispheroidal in form and sub-oval in plan. Length c.86mm, width c.70mm and c.36mm thick. Weight 229.93g. The ventral surface which is slightly convex is in the form of a bulb of percussion. A few small flakes have been detached from around the edge. The dorsal surface has been crudely knapped to form the dome-shape. Part of the side of the tool at the distal end of the dorsal surface has been knapped to form a steep edge. One section of this edge, about 20mm in length, is vertical and is more finely knapped than the remaining part of the tool. Close to the apex of the dorsal surface a sub circular area, c.20mm in diameter, is heavily pitted. The pitting has been created by repeated percussion. Both surfaces are a mottled honey/grey colour. This tool ahs been used as a hammer-stone and a scraper and, therefore, may be classified as a composite tool.
