A copper alloy mount probably dating to the Roman period.
The object is an open figure of eight in plan with an openwork design. There is not bridge between the two sides at the waist however on one side there is a recessed section with the main frame widening to a trumpet shape just before the recess. Directly opposite on the other side of the waist, the frame widens to a trumpet shape before narrowing dramatically to complete the shape. From one side there is a projection which has a slight knee-bend before widening to a trumpet shaped terminal. There are four projections on the back of the object, all of which are circular in section.
There are similar objects recorded on the PAS database. While they are not the same shape there are similar stylistic elements, see ESS-AB2CA5, HAMP-C304D2 and DUR-7F7F57.
