A lead or lead alloy sphere of unknown purpose and unknown age. It is highly unlikely to be cannon shot for a couple of reasons. Firstly it does not conform to any known bore of the seventeenth century or later. Secondly, it is not solid lead as it is too light for its size. This latter fact also excludes a lot of the other usual uses for lead balls. The comparatively low weight may be due to the construction of the sphere or it may be manufactured from a lighter alloy. It may be part of larger object. If it is shot it is more likely to be for use in a pre seventeenth century firearm, possibly an early 'hand gun'.

It measures approximately 35mm in diameter and weighs 183.80g.
