A post-Medieval, sheet copper-alloy, composite three-piece button dating to the 17th century. The button consists of a pair of hollow, die-stamped hemispheres soldered together. The upper part is very convex and dome-shaped whilst the lower part is only slightly convex with a small, circular perforation, or blow-hole, to either side of the separately-attached loop. The loop is made from copper-alloy wire and teardrop shaped. There is gilding over most of the lower hemisphere and loop, but not on the upper hemisphere.
