Unique ID: WMID-0CB2F6

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A complete lead or lead alloy, probable weight, of uncertain dating, possibly Roman (AD 43 to AD 410).

The weight consists of two sub circular ends, with a recessed centre. It broadly resembles a dumb-bell or yo yo shape. The recess between the two ends measures 6.5 mm wide and 5.9 mm deep.

It has a diameter of 38.5 mm and is 26.0 mm thick. It weighs 208 g (7.3 oz).

The weight is an off white colour, with an even surface patina.

No parallels to this weight have been found at the time of recording. It is considered to be possibly Roman, due to association with other finds found in the vicinity. However it could be of any date.
