Copper alloy with paint or oil, unidentified object. This comprises a drawn wire (diameter 0.9mm) loop on which are threaded a cylinder of sheet metal and a cylindrical bead, probably cast, with a pair of circumferential grooves. The form of the wire loop keeps the two objects side by side. Both objects move freely on the wire, and perhaps functioned as rollers. Traces of paint, particularly on the cylindrical sheet object, may hint at an early post-medieval date, as metalwork of the period would often be treated with linseed oil, which degrades to a black paint like finish.
Suggested date: Possibly Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
