Incomplete Late Saxon tongue-shaped copper alloy strap-end of Thomas' (2004) Class E, Type 2, front of split end with twin rivet-holes above a line of five ring-and-dots. Openwork and decorated in relief, and with drilled blind holes and concave mouldings on the reverse, oblique break across lower part, terminal missing. Surviving length 46.5mm. Width 26mm. 3mm thick. Weighs 13.61g. The abstracted anthropomorphic design is very close to that on several Norfolk examples including pieces from Runton (NMS-CA6E72), Quidenham (HER 24051), Sporle with Palgrave (HER 28809) and Mautby (HER 34761) . 10th century.
