A complete copper alloy medal of Post-medieval date (AD 1714). The medal is likely to be commemorative, marking an anniversary in AD 1714. Due to the worn surfaces of the object the legends are mostly illegible.
The obverse depicts a horseman standing left.
The reverse depicts solider standing right in front of seated figure, below fallen soldier and reads 'Spen' could be the beginnings of a phrase (spend, spent etc), a place (spennymoor etc) or a person (spencer or spenser). Below the field in the reverse is : MDCCXIV giving the date of the medal.
