A complete struck flint tranchet axe of Mesolithic date. It is struck from a heavily patinated flint that is a mottled white/grey in colour. It is plano-convex in form and of tranchet type, both faces having all over flake removal and edge retouch. One side has a marked, ridged back and the cutting edge is convex in form with transverse flake removal and some edge retouch. The entire axe measures 142.96mm in length, 54.88mm in width, 27.87mm in thickness and 248.82g in weight. It dates to the Mesolithic period, c.10,000-4,000 BC.
