An incomplete cast copper-alloy axe of Bronze Age date. Only a fragment from the blade end survives, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. The fragment is triangular in section and preserves most of the crescentic cutting edge, which has a worn and pitted dark brown patina. The precise form of the original axe is uncertain due to the preservation of the object. It measures 38.97mm in width, 9.89mm in length, 5.23mm in thickness and 5.37g in weight.
This is an incomplete blade from an axe of Bronze Age date. The precise form of the axe, whether socketed or otherwise, is uncertain due to the preservation of the fragment, and it could date to any period of the Bronze Age, c.2550-800 BC.
