A folded copper-alloy plate, which is most likely to originally have been the plate of a two piece strap end, the hinge and loop now missing.

This folded plate is rectangular in shape and measures 25.6mm in length and 11mm in width. There are two in situ parallel copper-alloy rivets through both faces of this plate near to the attachment edge. There is also a circular hole through the centre of both faces, measuring c3.4mm. The end which presumably would have held a hinge and then a loop hanging from this is narrowed and the fold forms a cylindrical loop in cross-section. This probable strap end plate is very similar to the plates discovered with their hinges and loops attached in London, these are dated to the late 14th/early 15th centuries (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 154-155, fig 101).
