Object type certainty: Certain

Lead toy anchor. Cast anchor with narrow tapering shank, broad thick arms which are flattened at their base, and small double pointed flukes. Made in an open mould. The shank is now bent, and if it ever had a stock this would have been very small. Patinated overall. This object may be from a wooden toy boat, though it is not exactly paralleled by any of a range of toy anchors reported from London. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1700-1800.

Height: 28.0mm, Width: 27.5mm, Thickness: 6.2mm, Weight: 8.65gms.

Class: Anchor
