Copper alloy seal matrix. Circular matrix with mid rib with semi-circular suspension loop at one end. A central motif depicts a lion rampant left with a circumferential legend: *SVMLEOFORTIS - I am a strong lion. Vertical file marks appear on the back of the matrix. The legend might be apt to a person named Leo, if not derived from a heraldic blazon. The motif and legend are well defined and preserved. Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1350.
Diameter: 17.6mm, Thickness (clear of rib): 3.2mm, Weight: 5.58gms.
Inscription:
*SVMLEOFORTIS
