A complete silver annular hawk ring or vervel, of Post Medieval dating (17th Centuries AD).

The vervel consists of a flat annular ring, with inscribed lettering on one side. The reverse is plain and undecorated. The inscription on the front reads: of minting lincln.

The vervel has a diameter of 11.42 mm, and is 1.64 mm thick. The internal diameter of the central hole measures 5.23 mm. It weighs 1.0 g.

The vervel is a dark grey colour, with an even surface patina.

The similarity of the lettering on this vervel to that of other examples dated to the 17th Century, and the probable association of this item with a person living in the early 17th century, indicate that it is likely to date from that time as well.
