A fragment of a copper-alloy unidentified object of Unknown date and function.
This flat object is now roughly square in plan and has a break at one end. It is unclear whether there is a break at the opposite end which is curved in side profile. At the front a symmetrical and curvilinear design is gilded. Some of the gilding is lost. A central rivet or spike at one end is circular in cross-section and may be separate. It appears to be separate at the front but integral at the rear.
This object is corroded and the surface is reddish brown in places with bright green corrosion products. Traces of gilding are present at the rear.
Length: 15.48mm; width: 15.06mm; thickness of plate: 1.04mm; overall thickness: 3.57mm. Weight: 1.37g.
