FINGER RING

Unique ID: SUR-324774

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A fragment of a silver-gilt iconographic finger ring of 15th century date. Only the shoulder panel and part of one side survive as well as a tiny portion of the main uppermost panel. The ring itself is keeled and the surviving part of the side has a pair of incuse cinquefoils. The surviving panel shows what appears to be a pair of standing figures, presumably of saints. A fragment of a similarly-decorated panel survives in the centre. Similar finger-rings with transverse panels of decoration can be seen at LIN-2F6F65, NLM-124B3E, KENT-962EE3, LANCUM-3590E1, BERK-BCBDF5, SUR-91E496 and SUSS-603855.
