A cast copper-alloy belt stud or mount moulded in the form of a scallop shell of post-medieval date. The shell in semicircular and sits above a trefoil base. Five triangular grooves form the shell's ridges. On the back are two integral pointed lugs, both slightly off centre, and the lowermost truncated. The object has corroded to a red-brown colour with light-green corrosion product in patches, particularly on the back. A similar strap fitting has been recorded on this database, ref. CORN-88BC72.
