A copper-alloy acorn shaped finial or mount of uncertain date. Although this artefact is undated later Post-Medieval to Modern is the more likely date range. This artefact weighs 33.6g and has a height of 39.13mm. The top acorn part has a maximum diameter of 23.60mm and accounts for 16.17mm of the total height. This part has a couple of dents with the largest dent being located just above the rim of the acorn cup part. The artefact is hollow and at the centre of the top of the acorn a circular hole of 4.55mm diameter is present. The acorn is shown sitting in an acorn cup and the artefact increases in diameter to 26.84mm at the rim of this cup. The metal then constricts to a waist of 16.37mm in diameter before flaring out to the base of the artefact which has an oval diameter of 23.26mm x 21.08mm. The base of the artefact is flat with an oval aperture of 15.35mm x 12.84mm which opens to the hollow core of the acorn. The base forms an angular or right-angled lip that juts out past the internal surface of the acorn wall. This artefact has been cast in one peice and may have been used as a furniture fitting such a draw handle or finial on the corner post of a bed frame.
