A circular spring stud (solitaire), with copper-alloy pressed components and probably hand engraved front. The back is normally in two parts of which the two wings release the missing disc when depressed. The front is probably silver and engraved with an architectural scene with two figures above.
Notes:
The button is also known as a bachelors buttons which was patented in 1872 by George West. I have added this piece as it is a unusual and a nice piece of social history.
