Medieval copper alloy buckle. Oval frame with off-set, narrowed bar, notched moulding in centre of outside edge decorated with angled grooves. Rectangular sheet plate, folded width-ways, recessed for frame, slot for (missing) pin, two rivets at attachment edge. Engraved decoration in the form of opposed lines zig-zags / waves in two lines either side of the pin slot, a border around the edge of the plate, a wavy transverse line and straight line behind the pin slot. Frame 17 x 28.5. Plate 19 x 21.5mm. 13th- 14th century.
