FINGER RING

Unique ID: SUSS-713456

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A large silver finger-ring, probably dating to the 16th or 17th century. The hoop has been made to look like a belt, and has three double looped buckles, two the same size and one slightly larger. the sytle of buckle dates the ring to circa 1550 - 1650. The 'belt' has been decorated and the buckles have pins and pin recesses. The ring has been damaged and so is incomplete; the break looks quite recent. The silver has started to go a dark greyish-silver colour.

Notes:

The quality of the attached photograph is below the PAS standard for images. The finger ring was found before 1997, before the Treasure Act 1996 became law. The finder declined the suggestion of putting it through the Treasure Trove process.
