An incomplete cast copper-alloy socketed axe of Late Bronze Age date. Only the worn and corroded blade end and part of the socket survive, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. The Fragment is rectangular in form, triangular in section, tapering to the flaring cutting edge. This is crescentic in form and extremely worn due to post-depositional corrosion. The end of the sub-oval shaped socket is visible at the old breaks, but the precise form of the axe remains uncertain due to old breaks. All surfaces have extensive pale green copper-alloy corrosion and have lost their original patinated surfaces. It measures 37.55mm in width, 21.84mm in length, 9.92mm in thickness and 23.88g in weight. This is an incomplete socketed axe of Late Bronze Age date, c.1150-800 BC.
