A fragment of a silver-gilt late Medieval ring. The hoop is decorated with a four-petalled lozenge within a diamond bordered by a quatrefoil on either side. The interior of the hoop is plain and tracings of gilding are visible on both sides.

No direct comparisons for this fragment could be found, but quatrefoil designs were very popular on Medieval rings and can be found on numerous examples, see DUR-A1D852, NMS-EFD014 and NMS-9095A3.

This fragment dates from 1300 to 1500.

Dimensions: length 16.2 mm, thickness 1.1 mm, weight 0.5g

Notes:

In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
