An incomplete copper-alloy spoon, dating from the Roman period.
The stem is of rectangular section, tapering towards a pointed distal end and having an upward bend just over halfway along. A short distance from the bowl end, the sides of the stem bulge outwards; at this point the two upper corners have been 'toothed' by a number of transverse incisions. A 'U-shaped' downward step joins the stem to the remaining fragment of the bowl. The surfaces of the spoon have been tinned or silvered.
