A complete copper alloy single looped D shaped buckle frame, of medieval dating (c. AD 1350 to AD 1450).
The buckle frame is broadly D shaped in plan, with a broad D shape cross section. At the centre of the frame, a pin rest is present made from a single U shaped groove. Two flanking smaller grooves to either side as decoration. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The central bar has been recessed for the plate (now missing).
The buckle is a mid green colour with an even but slightly abraded patina covering all surfaces.
The buckle measures 13.36 mm in length, 14.93 mm wide and 2.68 mm thick. It weighs 0.9 grams.
Similar buckle styles are depicted in Whitehead (2003), page 20, illustrations 70, 75 and 76. These are all dated to the late Medieval period, c.1350 to 1450.
