Notes:
The significance of the find prompted an investigation conducted by the Glamorgan Gwent Archaeological Trust (Unpublished excavation report; GGAT report - 2003/002; project No A800), supported by Portable Antiquities and funded by Monmouthshire Museum Service. The excavation revealed a possible funerary context for the vessel, as it was associated with cremated bone and potsherds of Roman date. This has been noted as an interesting find by the recorder.
