A copper alloy Roman headstud brooch dating to the period c. AD 75 to 175.
The object features a square head with the wings missing. The pin does not remain however it would have been hinged. The loop is integrally cast to the body of the brooch. There is a circular stud on the bow of the brooch, just behind the head. The bow is undecorated and tapers towards the foot which has some moulded detail. The catchplate is missing.
Similar examples are recorded by Bayley and Butcher (2004: 967) and are usually dated to the late 1st or early 2nd centuries AD.
