A complete, Roman, struck or hammered, silver denarius of Hadrian (117-138AD). Obverse: Laureate bust right, draped and cuirassed. Inscription: [IMP] CAES.TRAIAN.HADRIAN.AVG [DIVITRA]. Reverse: Fortuna seated holding a rudder but no globe with 'Fortred' in the exergue. Inscription: PM[]TRPCOS. Die axis: 6 o'clock. The coin is in very fine condition with little wear. It has an attractive silver colour with just one spot of dark green verdigris on the obverse and the reverse has a slight weak grey tarnish. This coin dates to 117AD following Trajan's death. Ref. Roman Coins and their Values II, David R. Sear, Spink 2002, page 146 no. 3493 and Roman Silver Coins Vol. II, 3rd Edition 1979, page 135 no. 749a. The coin is 18.12mm long, 16.39mm wide, 2.13mm thick, diameter 18.12mm and weighs 3.1g.
