Incomplete silver-plated copper alloy watch key or winder with a sub-rectangular frame between the winding shaft below and the finial above which would have had a hole for the wire suspension loop, now missing, to pass through. The frame of the key is waisted with bifid sides with a central triangular knop, and an oval aperture within. The surface of the frame is worn but the edges still retain some of the decoration in the form of cross-hatching beyond an oval border. The winding shaft has several collars with two slight ridges on each side, and the finial is also waisted below where it tapers to reveal the copper alloy core.

Bailey (1993) illustrates similar watch keys on page 27, Nos.9-10, which are dated from the 19th century.
