Treasure reference number 2013 T355: a gold enamelled finger ring dating to the 16th or 17th century. The ring has a circular bezel decorated with an outer perimeter of four crescent-shaped cells that would have once contained enamel. In the centre is a skull. Analysis under a microscope shows traces of white enamel within the eye sockets. A pellet of gold is located at the bottom right of the skull. Both shoulders are decorated with a flower head with a pellet in the centre. The petals are recessed and analysis under a microscope shows traces of white enamel, and also a dark 'blackish' coloured enamel. The hoop is D-shaped in cross-section, undecorated, and now squashed.
There is no inscription on the interior of the ring. This is ring was probably used - or intended to have been used - as a memento mori ring.
